Austrian Dancing

Hans Peter, a local farmer, teaching us Austrian dances

Last night we learned several Austrian dances at a local ski school gym.  Hans Peter Plutt, a local farmer whom the school helps out at his farm, taught us several Austrian dances.  He would demonstrate with someone from the crowd, and then had a few couples who knew these dances demonstrate.  Most of the guys were hesitant to learn the dances, but they seemed to enjoy himself.  And so did the girls.  I'm not sure that I had that much fun in a long time.  We learned six or seven dances and while there were more guys than girls, we still managed to make it work.  We all laughed as we learned each new dance.  All of the girls dressed up in skirts and dresses and most of the guys got dressed up as well.  Hans Peter played an instrument similar to an accordian.  And afterwards, we went out for ice cream in town all dressed up.  So much fun.
